COLUMBIA PLATEAU
n the Columbia Plateau, wood is scarce and fish are abundant. The Corps travels quickly through this country in the fall of 1805, making it difficult for them to obtain much reliable information about the people they meet.
Names of tribes present a challenge to the modern reader of their journals. [See Tribal Cultures and Homelands for specific information about the groups encountered.]
