The Ten-Day War, or Slovenian Independence War, resulted from
Slovenia’s break from Yugoslavia. The primarily Serbian Yugoslav
People’s Army quickly took action after independence was
declared. Slovenia had a stronger defense force than estimated.
As a result, the JNA(Yugoslav National Army) was shocked as Slovenia mounted an
effective defense and forced the signing of the Brioni Accord in
July 1991 to allow Slovenia sovereignty. |
